Casio CDP-130

The Casio CDP-130 includes a little of everything, quality sound, attention to pianist’s technique, connectivity, and a taste of the electronic effects that are available to modern digital pianos. This package, then, is suitable for a player just beginning their musical journey and for pianists who require an all-rounder but don’t want to commit to a top of the range machine.

The Casio CDP-130 is a fully sized digital piano with an 88-note keyboard, Graded Hammer Action, and 3 dynamic levels of touch sensitivity. These features combine to give the CDP-130 a similar ability to harness a pianist’s technique as an acoustic piano has.

There is a generous 48-note polyphony, allowing for sustain pedalling techniques to be incorporated into the music. The sustain pedal that is included with the CDP-130 is removable, it is attached to an easy access port when required.

A sophisticated transposing capability of 25 steps, 12 half-tones either side of the natural tuning means that playing with other musicians is a made even easier. To aid practice and train the rhythm of playing the CDP-130 has a comprehensive metronome built-in.

With 10 high quality voices the Casio CDP-130 has enough variation to please. A Layer mode, which sounds of two different voices at the same time, makes the best use of this diversity. The sound source is a dual element Acoustic and Highly-compressed Large-waveform technology, ensuring that all the music played on the CDP-130 comes out beautifully. It is powerful enough to fill an average sized room with its two Full Force Sound Speakers that emit a total of 16W worth of sound from their amps.

There are various effects built-in to the CDP-130 including a Hall effect, giving the music the same tone it would have if played in a concert hall. 10 types of Reverb and 5 of Chorus are more traditional effects also included here.

The Casio CDP-130 is well connected, with MIDI capability and a USB type B connection, enabling direct linkage to a computer and its attendant software. A headphone jack ensures that the piano can still be used without disturbing others and the pianist can fully hear the nuances of what they are playing.

At under 11kg the CDP-130 is easy to transport and to regularly store away after it has been used.
